Before each NASCAR Cup Series points race you will submit five (5) drivers that you think will contend for the win in that week’s race. Whoever you submit in position number one (1) is considered your pick to WIN that week's race.
-    When submitting your five selections for each week’s race, the following restrictions will be in place:
You may only have ONE of the TOP THREE drivers in the CURRENT weekly NASCAR Cup Series standings included in your five selections.

You must have AT LEAST ONE of your five selections from OUTSIDE the CURRENT weekly TOP SIXTEEN positions in the NASCAR Cup Series standings.

At the conclusion of each race, you will be awarded a point total based upon where your five drivers finish in the race.

LOW SCORE WINS!
If the driver you pick to win the race finishes first, you will be awarded minus ten (-10) points for that driver. If your winning driver selection finishes second you will get two (2) points, finishing third (3) points, etc.

If any of your other selections, numbers 2 through 5, win the race you will get one (1) point for that driver.

If any of your selections finish 2nd through 24th you will receive the same points as their finishing position. Example: a driver finishes in 2nd you get 2 points, finishes 10th you get 10 points, finishes 24th you get 24 points.

If any of your selections finishes worse than 24th in the race you will receive a maximum of 25 points for his lack of effort, or plain bad luck.

STAGES: there are 3 stages in every NASCAR Cup Series race. (4 stages in the Coke 600) If your driver finishes 1st in stage 1 or stage 2 you will receive -2 points for that driver winning that stage.

In addition, you will receive -1 point deducted from your total score for the race for each of your five selections that get credit for leading a lap during the race.

CLARIFICATION
If the driver that you picked to win the race actually wins getting you the -10 points, you lose the -1 for that driver having led a lap during the race. That’s because he finished in position one (worth 1 point) minus the 1 for leading a least a lap for a score of zero. Then we add the -10 for the win.

Driver Selection
The penalty for having an illegal driver (reference rules [a] and [b] above) among your five selections will be as follows:
If more than one of the top three drivers in the CURRENT weekly NASCAR Cup Series standings is submitted on your pick sheet for that week's race, the lower of them in the current standings will automatically count for the maximum total of 25 points against your score for the race. If you select all three of them, then the driver in second place and the driver in third place will each count as 25 points on your total score for the week.
If none of your five submitted picks are ranked OUTSIDE the current TOP Sixteen positions in the Monster Energy Cup Series standings, then the lowest ranked driver that you submitted in the current TOP Sixteen in the standings will automatically count for the maximum total of 25 points.

By entering your weekly picks at the website, you will avoid any penalties because the website is designed to not allow you to enter illegal selections. You will only face the possibility of having illegal selections if you allow your previous week’s selection to "roll over" by not entering new ones weekly. Be aware the selection restrictions are tied to the current weekly NASCAR Cup Series point standings, which are subject to change each week after the previous week's race results are official and the standings have been updated. This usually occurs on the Monday following a Saturday or Sunday race. Once the updated NASCAR Cup Series points are posted in advance of the next race, and the Scarman Racing points are official for that week they will NOT be adjusted based on penalties etc. that may be assessed by NASCAR during the week.

Driver Selection:

For the first race of the 2024 season, the Daytona 500 on February 18th, we will use the FINAL STANDINGS FROM THE 2023 SEASON as the current Top 16.
TOP Sixteen Final Standings from 2023 are,

1. Ryan Blaney
2. Kyle Larsen
3. William Byron

You may have Ryan Blaney or Kyle Larsen or William Byron as one of your five picks for the first race at Daytona: BUT not more than one of them. None of them would be fine also.

4. Christopher Bell

5. Denny Hamlin
6. Tyler Reddick
7. Chris Buescher
8. Brad Keslowski
9. Ross Chastain
10. Bubba Wallace
11. Martin Truex Jr.
12. Joey Logano
13. Kevin Harvick
14. Kyle Busch
15. Michael McDowell
16. Ricky Stenhouse Jr.

At least one of your picks MUST be from outside the TOP Sixteen. That means for the first race of the 2024 season, at least one driver selection CANNOT be anywhere on the above list of the final TOP Sixteen from last season.

For the week 2 race and all succeeding races, the CURRENT TOP Sixteen in the NASCAR Cup Series Points will be valid. We will use the standings as posted at www.nascar.com after the previous race results are official. If two drivers are tied for any position in the weekly point standings, the driver listed first at www.nascar.com will be considered to have possession of the tied position.

Again, each week your 5 drivers must not include more than one who is currently in the top three in points and must include at least one from outside the current top sixteen in the standings.

These rules are not meant to penalize anyone by placing restrictions on which drivers you may select, but to make you work a little bit harder for the LOWEST possible score each week.

THE WEBSITE: http://www.scarmanracing.com

You may enter your picks anytime between the time the previous race results have become "official" (usually Wednesday afternoon) and usually 1:00 PM EST on the day of the next race. The site will not let you enter illegal selections. Pay attention! If your selections are illegal, you will see notification immediately in red on the site. If your selections are legal, you will receive email notification that your driver selections for that week have been saved. MAKE SURE YOU RECEIVE EMAIL NOTIFICATION THAT YOUR DRIVER SELECTIONS FOR THE WEEK HAVE BEEN SAVED.

Shortly after 1:00 PM EST on the day of the race you will be able to view all of the other players’ picks. If you decide to let your selections "roll over" from one week to the next, make sure that all five of your selections are still legal or you will be penalized as described in the rules above.

In the event the website is not available for reasons beyond our control, you can email your selections to: slotcarguy@scarmanracing.com The E-mail message must be sent by 1:00 PM EST on the day of the race.

If one of your driver selections fails to make the race due to injury or personal illness, you own his car and whoever drives that car during the race will be driving for you. If the selected driver’s car never leaves the garage area on race day, it will cost you 25 points for that race.

We will only play during races when NASCAR Cup Series Championship Points are awarded. Starting with the Daytona 500 we will play every weekend that NASCAR is racing except for "The Bud Shootout" and “The All-Star Race.”

The entry fee for 2023 will be $50.00 per team with all monies returned to the winning teams (Minus $50 for our web administrator fee) in the following manner:
After the conclusion of the 26th race, the team who has accumulated the least amount of points will be the winner of the regular season and will receive first place prize money of $100 for winning the regular season. This money will be awarded at the end of the NASCAR Season.

At that point, the top 67% of the total teams playing will advance to the Chase for the Championship; the final 10 races. For the other 33% of the teams, the season will be over with one exception. Those teams in the lower 33% of the standings who have managed to pick the winning driver in at least 5 of the previous 26 races. Doing that will automatically ensure you a place in the Championship Chase.

At the conclusion of the 26th race, the standings will reset in the following manner: the team in first will start the final ten races back at zero points. Every team behind first place will receive 2 points for each position back from first. Example: if you’re in second place you will receive 2 points, if you’re in 10th place you will receive 18 points, and so on. If two or more teams are tied for a single position, they will share the starting points for those positions.

We will keep track of your winners throughout the season for another reason. If you qualify for the Chase for the Championship, the number of winners you’ve picked during the first 26 races of the season will be multiplied by 5 and then subtracted from your starting score for the final ten races that make up the Chase for the Championship.
Example: The team that held the 1st place position at the end of the first 26 races managed to pick the winning driver 4 times during those races. That team would start the Chase for the Championship with a total of (-20) points. (Starting score 0 – Winners picked 4 * 5 = 20) The team that finished in 2nd place picked the winning driver 7 times during the first 26 races. That team would start the Chase for the Championship with a total of (-33) points. (Starting score 2 – Winners picked 7 * 5 = 33). Keep getting lucky and picking those winners throughout the season!!

Once the season is completed all the money collected from your entry fees (minus $50 for the web admin) will be paid out to the top seven finishers, if 50 or more teams sign up we will pay out for the top 10, if 70 or more teams sign up we will pay out for the top 15.

Scarman Racing will pay $100 to the team that selects the most winning drivers throughout the 36 races which make up the 2024 NASCAR season. If a tie exists, the $100 will be split as evenly as possible.

If a tie exists between two or more players for a position (either 1st place after the 26), (or a paying position at the end of the season) the winning drivers selected throughout the season will be used to break the tie. If they also have a tie for winner drivers the team with the highest lowest overall score in the previous race will break the tie.
